La serata dei The Game Awards 2025, svoltasi l’11 dicembre al Peacock Theater di Los Angeles sotto la conduzione di Geoff Keighley, ha celebrato il meglio del mondo videoludico tra premiazioni e spettacolari annunci di nuovi titoli. A emergere come grande protagonista è stato un titolo in particolare, capace di dominare la competizione come mai prima d’ora.
La produzione indipendente francese Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ha sbaragliato la concorrenza aggiudicandosi ben nove premi su tredici nomination, tra cui gli ambitissimi Game of the Year (Gioco dell’Anno), Best Game Direction e Best Narrative. Nessun gioco in precedenza aveva collezionato un bottino simile: il precedente record apparteneva a The Last of Us Part II, con sette vittorie nell’edizione 2020.
Questo triplete – Game of the Year, Best Game Direction e Best Narrative – testimonia la maturità di Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 in tutti i suoi aspetti fondamentali, dalla visione artistica alla capacità di narrazione. Il titolo di Sandfall Interactive, un RPG ispirato ai classici giapponesi, si è infatti imposto anche come Best Role-Playing Game, confermando l’eccellenza raggiunta nel suo genere di appartenenza.
L’attrice Jennifer English ha ricevuto il riconoscimento come Best Performance per la sua interpretazione in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, aggiungendo ulteriore prestigio a un progetto che ha brillato anche sul fronte tecnico e artistico.
Il dominio di Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 si è esteso anche alle categorie dedicate ai giochi indipendenti e agli studi esordienti. Oltre a essere eletto Best Independent Game, il titolo ha trionfato anche come Best Debut Indie Game, un risultato pressoché unico nella storia dei The Game Awards.
Anche altri titoli di rilievo hanno trovato spazio nell’albo d’oro della serata: Hades 2, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, Donkey Kong Bananza, Mario Kart World, No Man’s Sky, South of Midnight e molti altri.
Nel settore eSport, spiccano i successi di Counter-Strike 2, Chovy e Team Vitality. Il premio Game Changer Award è andato a Girls Make Games per il suo impatto nella formazione delle nuove generazioni di sviluppatrici.
Wuthering Waves ha infine vinto il Player’s Voice Award, mentre Grand Theft Auto VI si è imposto come Most Anticipated Game. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 chiude l’edizione 2025 con un record assoluto di 9 premi, ribadendo che anche i piccoli studi possono realizzare capolavori.
